A soft contact lens for patients with Keratoconus or Corneal Grafts

We are please to announce that we are one of only a few practices in Australia accredited to fit and prescribe Kerasoft IC, a new soft contact lens for patients with keratoconus, corneal grafts and pellucid marginal degeneration.

Traditionally, patients with keratoconus or corneal grafts have needed to wear rigid gas permeable contact lenses in order to see clearly. This has now changed. Kerasoft IC is a new soft contact lens design which is made primarily for use in keratoconus or corneal grafts (also known as corneal transplants).

Kerasoft IC is made from a highly breathable and very soft silicone material, which is very similar to many of the soft disposable contact lenses worn comfortably by millions around the world.  The lens is custom made and comes in an extensive range of fitting parameters.

Each lens pair is designed to be replaced every 6 months and is indicated for daily wear only (ie. you cannot sleep in the lenses). Kerasoft IC also incorporates an aberration controlled front surface curvature and a large optic zone in order to minimise visual distortions, especially in low light scenarios such as driving at night.

Our practice has one aim, to be the best contact lens practice in Australia and as such we are pleased to be one of the only providers of Kerasoft IC lenses in Australia. Whilst there now exists many rigid lens and hydrid lens designs which provide excellent vision and comfort for keratoconus and corneal grafts, Kerasoft IC now provides an additional option for patients with these conditions.
